Facilities

Glen Arden is located in the midst of several acres of backwoods mountain land crossed by numerous streams and creeks. Our camping program takes full advantage of these natural settings. Seven cabanas spread throughout the property serve as shelter for every camper as she camps out at least once during her camp session.

In camp, there are spacious and beautiful grassy fields for sports and games, tennis courts, an Olympic pool, screened cabins and a large barn for our horses.

The lake and gym are at the center of camp. You are sure to always find fun at these locations. The gym has end rooms with large stone fireplaces for chilly mornings or for Red and Blue meetings. The gym spans the Falls of Arden, providing the campers with stunning views of the lake and waterfall - not to mention a cool breeze - while playing. Our very own sliding rock is located just down-stream from the gym at the foot of the falls.

Several other buildings around the property play host to weaving, wood carving, riflery, woodworking and drama.

Our two-story Dining Hall bustles with activity. The lower level houses the Canteen, Arts and Crafts, Pottery, the Mountaineering Room and Library. The Kitchen and Dining Hall are on the second level. Camp’s kitchen staff provides healthful meals with locally grown food. We maintain the highest Grade A health rating from the Henderson County Health Department.

At meals, endless songs are sung, dances are danced, and exciting announcements are made. Each morning the entire camp assembles for breakfast at our family-style tables, and our camp prayer and “Thought for the Day” are shared.
